Which would you take? AMG GT S, E90 M3, CTS-V Wagon, Tesla Model 3?
Hi guys!
For a short time I had an E90 M3, CTS-V wagon, AMG GT S and Tesla Model 3 in my fleet. Each morning I did a little mulling over my day's plans and then picked the car that fit my mood and the day.
Typically, errands would get run in the Model 3 or CTS-V, track time went to the GT S or M3, road trips to the Model 3 or M3, and canyon runs were done in the GT S.
The experience inspired me to write a Choose Your Own Adventure review on the M3, CTS-V, GT S and Model 3. (It is here on my blog.)
Which car would you pick for errands, road trips, track time and canyons?
I have zero interest in the Tesla. Not a big fan of US made cars due to Unions. The M3 bug never bit me so GT S all the way. If I need something else for various reasons I have a newish Ram Laramie Mega cab 2500 (building expedition rig) and a G63 Brabus.
My GT C is my daily driver but I have a Porsche Macan Turbo for drives that require more than two seats and any storage. I love your lineup though! Great cars. I'd default to the GT and the M3 for sure. I know the other two are good cars, just not for me.

My CTS-V drives a bit like a truck; heavy, slow steering, V8 noise and a soft suspension. :-)
I too had zero interest in the Model 3 -- even a little distain for it -- until my Dad bought one and left it with me for a week. It was eye-opening to have an EV (and not necessarily a Tesla) for every day use. We ended up buying one just before the tax credits for Tesla disappeared.

Is the GT C a little softer riding that the early GT Ses? If so, it seems like a great daily!
Definitely NOT the Tesla Model 3! Most people don't realize that this is an economy car, with a premium price. Just ride around in one and feel how poor the suspension compliance is. Add engine noise and close your eyes and you are in Yaris.
Isn't the entire point of the AMG wagon to have the ultimate DD?
Yes in a perfect world. Instead choose to DD my 2 Asian appliances in Athens, GA and SS 1500-miles away in NM. College Towns have the worst drivers. Wagon is the Ultimate Interstate/High Altitude Mountain Cruiser and excellent for hauling stuff to the Range. Next month taking Amtrak up from BWI to Boston to avoid Tolls and lack of parking. Daughter will walk @MIT graduation...2021 was just a virtual ceremony. Still need a battery for the Ducati that died last August on a Tender!

Don't close your eyes! Autopilot isn't that good! :-P
I agree with you that the Model 3's suspension is too firm for most roads. The comfortable seats make up some of the difference, but not enough to keep me from wishing for adjustable dampers. On the other hand, the car really does feel eager and capable on a twisty road.
