2016 AMG GT S
2016 AMG GT S turbo failure
Greetings,
My AMG GT S has 17,000 kms and now is in the dealership with a failed turbo. According to the service desk, one is 'burned out' so both need to be replaced. The term 'burned out' seems ambiguous as it would be useful to know what would cause this problem. The car has been used for 5 track days which, although aggressive for short periods of time, ought to be within performance/reliability capabilities of this vehicle. Maintenance and oil changes have always been done regularly. Posts from 2019 suggest others had issues at that time but I'm having difficulty determining if this is a weakness in the car or simply bad luck. Are there aftermarket turbos which are recommended over OEM?
Many thanks for any assistance.
