Rear bumper vents

So I love the look of these vents but their not functional. Has anyone ever tried popping off the plastic insert and putting a mesh grill in there to make them a bit more functional?

The question is: what are they venting? As Wolfman posits, potential venting for the DCT. . .?

If mine are open I can’t tell….looks like a solid piece of decorative plastic to me.

Post 13 of that thread shows literally your bumper (GTC roadster, including your color). You can see that it is a functional vent...

I understand. I saw that. All I’m saying is that it doesn’t look like their are any holes when I look at it.
