2018 AMG GTC Edition 50
Another Noise Fixed

Waited to make sure I had actually fixed this, and I have indeed. I have a 2018 GT Edition 50 I recently purchased and had what I would describe as a creaking / popping noise right behind my head. It seemed to be affected by temperature and was near constant over roads that were not perfect. Occasionally it would seem to fade away the longer I drove the car, but that was rare.

If you go outside your car and push in on the small quarter window, especially along the bottom where the body and rubber seal meet you will most like get creaking / popping noise. I took DuPont silicone spray and lightly sprayed all along that seam and the side seams. Pressing on the window now produces no sound at all. This one fix has solved 80% of the noises I had in the car. Hope this helps someone else!

My car makes this same noise. I have the dealership lubricate the window every time the car is in for service. Its a temporary fix though, the sound always gradually returns after a few months. Curious to see how long this holds up! Would love an easy and cheap at home fix.

Long term fixes on window seals is very dependent on the lubricant used. I only know this because of an F150 I had years ago with a window seal problem. 2-3 lubricants didn't work long term and the last one did for the life of the vehicle. I've had really good success with the Dupont silicone with Teflon, but if it doesn't work long term I'll try a new one.

By “lubricate the window” you mean the black rubber window gasket/seal, correct?

Yes on the small quarter window where it meets the body on the bottom of the window.
