One thing to consider is how close is a dealer? I have three MB in a short drive and no MClaren in my state or I would have owned a 720 years ago. I have friends here who do and they literally ship them for oil changes.

I have had a couple of GTR's, a couple of 720's and currently have a GT Black Series.
The comment about a dealer close by for a 720 is on point. Every McLaren purchase is a roll of the dice. You can get one that is perfect and doesn't give you a single issue or you can get one that will spend it's time at the dealer and they won't be able to fix it. The 720 is such an incredible car and it makes a great daily driver. When markets are not in wacky town territory the issue is depreciation. I tell all my friends that the only thing quicker than a McLaren is it's depreciation. If you are going to buy one, buy it used and see how many issues it has had in the first 1000 miles. If it is more than 1, run away.
The GT Black Series is a different animal in my opinion. It is an absolute track weapon but a little tougher to daily drive with no front lift. It is special when people see it but it still doesn't come across as an exotic like the 720 does.
It the end it is all what you are looking for in a car.

FWIW the McLaren market has been taking a beating as of late across the board as compared to pandemic bedlam pricing.
A couple of 720S Performances crossed the auction block recently at 205K, and as they dip out of warranty more deals will surface. They aren't moving...just like everything else. Different cars entirely but some decent deals popping up with the 600LT now too...and, the 765LT if it's something you can stretch to, will be in the 400's soon enough, where a year ago it would have been impossible to find it in the low 600's.

What year, mileage, price do you think is reasonable in the current market, for the best value / least # of issues?
I found a 2022 720s convertible for $330k with 500 miles, that was traded by a wealthy client that upgraded to a 765lt, but dealers STILL don't want to negotiate, even in the current market!
... the same is true for the BS, $395k.

I think you’re better served using the depreciation to your advantage on a 20 or 21. Plus you get to see what you’ve got, I.e. a car that has zero problems or car that’s shown itself to be a problem that can only vet out with a year or two of time.

Your best bet is to find a private seller that recently got a really low number from a dealer.
