screws / washers / nuts / torque for camber, caster correction
Hello Stenzel,
Can I ask for your help in finding some part numbers?
I am looking to increase my negative camber (and maybe adjust my caster) a bit on my 2020 AMG GTC.
I already purchased 2 sets of adjusting shims (197-357-06-00) for this task. I heard that it is recommended to change the bolts and nuts of the lower control arm holding these shims (items 19a, 10b and 19d in the pictures below). Can you help me to identify these? (Front, Rear, Camber and Caster – these may all be the same).
Also, do you know what is the recommended torque to tighten these bolts/nuts?
Many thanks
Gary
Hi Gary,
Please always ask in the forum. No PM, then everyone has the benefit.
That's right, according to WIS the screws should be replaced.
You can also measure the length. If they are still 137mm long, you can continue to use them.
Then you weren't in the plastic stretching range. Unfortunately, you only see this during disassembly.
To be absolutely sure, swap them out. (My recommendation) Measure the "old" screws with the new ones anyway.
Maybe you can use them next time.
You can continue use the washers. :-)
The part numbers for the lower front wishbones: (quantity for both side)
Screws: M14 x 1.5 x 137mm : N 000000 008169 (4 pcs.)
Lock nuts: M14 x 1.5: N 000000 003277 (4 pcs.)
Washers: Dia. 14.2 x 32mm: A202 333 04 76 (8 pcs.)
Torque (M14 x 1.5) :
1st stage: 100 nm (approx. 74 ft/lbs)
2nd stage: 180° (angle)
best regards.
Stenzel
