I searched the forum for questions/answers on this topic but only found a few that didn't seem pertinent. As I understand it my model year has Apple CarPlay but not Android Auto (for what reason I can't undestand). Can anyone confirm? And if so is there a "reasonable" way to make AA available? I would mostly use it for the navigation feature.

Hi,

You have the touch panel as the control unit. Correct?

Exchange this for the mechanical control button. (With digital facelift, both are no longer possible)

If code the control button, Android Auto also works.

Also brings you the advantage of better operation.
The touch panel is impractical in my opinion. (have a analog modell , and both)

Best regards

Stenzel

Hi I have AA on my 2020 GTC. You cannot have the track pad, which makes no sense. I have the dial

You mean the mouse pad thing right? Is it hard to respace with a dial? You know who can do this for me?

If the car has CarPlay. I recommend carlinkit4.0. It can convert wired CarPlay into wireless Android auto and wireless CarPlay.

I'm in the same boat as you.
I picked up a 2020 GTc Roadster in March.
It does not have Android auto but does have car play and I do have the touch pad control.
Took it to the dealer to see why and they couldn't find an answer or solution.

Lighthouse...congrats on your GT... you liking it so far? Any issues or aftermarket you have done? Pretty sad how Benz dealers are these days. Not sure if its cost cuts or what. I bought mine from a Cali dealership and had it shipped to me in Arizona. What a nightmare. And then took it local Benz dealer for tire issue and they were horrible as well. I used to enjoy going to the dealerships "back in the day"

Thanks! Loving it so far. A family member has a 2020 GTc hardtop that I've spent a fair amount of time in which convinced me to get one for myself. I bought from a dealer in Cali and had it shipped to Florida...no issues with shipping. Did find the clear coat was peeling off the front brake calipers and had them replaced under warranty at my local dealer. I think I'm gonna go with the Carlinkit 4.0 mentioned by brliuy for Android auto.

Nice, what dealer in Cali? Why did you go with the roadster? Let me know how that kit goes and if you find success I will give it a shot. I tend to hate messing with any electrical changes in my vehicles but may if straight forward.

On my 2020 GTC, I replaced the touch pad with the scroll dial. Then I flipped these values as shown in the screenshot and AA started working.

Nice, did you do the replacement yourself or have the dealership or vendor do it? You have a picture of how the dial looks in the car? May I ask how much it all cost to get done?

I did it myself, I got the knob on ebay for cheap ~$145. It seems I bought a part for a GT53? This is the part# listed on the Ebay auction - A290 900 80 00. However, I need to confirm the part# on the box. See the picture of what it looks like below. I have to add that AA doesn't occupy the full screen. Mercedes black bars one side slightly. This has made me contemplate getting an aftermarket display with touchscreen. I'm waiting to find a 10.25" sized one that has the sliver edge trim rather than all black. Hope all of this rambling helps. :-)
