My garage's ID is only 18'10" wide and we do park both AMGs in the garage, so I don't have enough width for any "permanent vertical post" style lifts. I did consider the moveable vertical post lifts, but decided it's too much hassle and I can't lift all that high due to the limited ceiling height so I thought the scissor lift was the best choice, given my design constraints. Embedding the lift so it sits at "floor level" made it a very nice choice, IMO. Of course, that type of installation does preclude it from being easily moveable but, again, that was OK for me.

It's not a huge consideration but, since we're in an earthquake zone, I also feel a little safer having the "wider" support of the scissor lift ... though that does come at the price of some obstruction of outside underneath areas. Tradeoffs, tradeoffs. $;-))

I am mechanical eng. not civil but your work is perfection with absolute attention to detail. You even used some rebar in the concrete. Was your original concrete pad barely 4”? I forget that I have been blessed with 27’X24’ garage, I have 3 cars in it most of the time. A few years back I was able to fit 4 when there was a warning hurricane.

My father, who only had a grade 5 education but was forever taking things apart and fixing them, always taught me to do things "properly" ... so I normally try to do things the best I can. My father also demonstrated that thinking about what you're about to do and what you are doing will go a long way towards being able to do things you might not think you can do. Of course, these days, YouTube pretty much always "has your back."

The garage-floor slab is nominally 4" thick and, after aging for 60+ years, is _extremely_ hard (and brittle, of course). I tend to over-engineer things so, yes, there's rebar (set on "chunks of concrete block" stand-ups so it's properly embedded) and I ordered a high-MPA mix, just for good measure.

I'm a "home body" and a "creature of habit" so my normal strategy is to figure out my _real_ requirements, focus on quality then keep it for a long time (adjusting as required). Other people have other strategies that work for them, but that's always been mine.

I went with a similar setup in my garage and stability was my biggest concern too. I poured new pads with thicker Concrete around the lift points and added some reinforced mesh. Haven’t had a single issue since, even with my heavier coupe. If your floor isn’t super level, you might want to grind it down a bit or use leveling compound before setting things up.

I truly don’t know how Canadians make it in their home country.
Median price for homes, taxes, other costs of living.
If I had to move up there, I would have to cut my lifestyle in half.
And I live in a major city metroplex.
