In-Floor Scissor Lift DIY
It's not a huge consideration but, since we're in an earthquake zone, I also feel a little safer having the "wider" support of the scissor lift ... though that does come at the price of some obstruction of outside underneath areas. Tradeoffs, tradeoffs. $;-))




The garage-floor slab is nominally 4" thick and, after aging for 60+ years, is _extremely_ hard (and brittle, of course). I tend to over-engineer things so, yes, there's rebar (set on "chunks of concrete block" stand-ups so it's properly embedded) and I ordered a high-MPA mix, just for good measure.
I'm a "home body" and a "creature of habit" so my normal strategy is to figure out my _real_ requirements, focus on quality then keep it for a long time (adjusting as required). Other people have other strategies that work for them, but that's always been mine.
