Check Engine Light on highway
Hi everyone,
Hope you are all well!
Earlier today, I was on the highway and had an issue after I stepped on the accelerator pedal. I actually gave it close to full throttle, and almost immediately, in 4th gear, the car started slowing down, the left side of the car was shaking, and it felt like it had lost power.
The car was shaking every time my foot was on the accelerator. I stopped and gave the car a cycle, which made the issue and check engine light go away. I am calling my service advisor first thing in the morning, but do let me know if any of you have experienced a similar situation or if you know what it could be.

Had the same issue: floored the car and it stopped accelerating at around 4000RPM or so. Engine ran rough. Check engine light on. Stopped the car at next occasion. Waited a minute. turned it back on. check engine light off, idle normal. Floored it again, same stuff happened at around 4000RPM. This time check engine light didn't not go off, not even the next day.
MB has an extended warranty on coil packs for this car up to 15 years if i recall correctly (got a letter about this a year ago). Mine is a 2018 GTC Roadster and my service guy at MB identified the coils of 2 cylinders being the culprit. They swapped them out at no cost.
Few weeks later (I rarely drive these days) the same thing happened again. Same cylinders. This time they ruled the coil packs out and went through a whole laundry list of diagnostics and tests. This time it was a bit difference, as the check engine light went off by itself (it didn't do this in the first go around).
They couldn't find anything wrong with the car and knowing that I don't drive a lot and the car has about 10K miles they assumed that it might be old/bad gas and an injector issue. So they filled up the tank and poured some injector cleaning in.
Now I'm just driving it through a couple of tanks with cleaner and we will see if it occurs again.

Update: I had my amazing friend at the dealership help me sort this out in less than 2 days!
They detected misfiring on one cylinder, had the coil and spark plug replaced for it, and the car is running smoothly once again with no signs of misfires or running rough.
If you experience a misfire like this, it may get gradually worse over time. Get it looked at and sorted ASAP.

No offense, but the first 3 responders to your question named exactly this a the most likely cause and took the time to respond to you. I think a warm fuzzy thank you to your forum buddies is due and not just praising your mechanic, now that you have your problem fixed.

Of course, I would like to thank everyone who helped me figure it out on this thread! I really appreciate your time and help everyone, I will do my best to respond to all threads whenever I can to help.
