Same here, I visited Park Place Dallas yesterday and sat in a 55 and a 63. SL55 - Full Night Package SL55 - Full Night Package SL55 - No Rear Seats SL55 - Full Night Package SL63 - Chrome + Carbon + White Interior SL63 - Chrome + Carbon + White Interior SL63 - Chrome + Carbon + White Interior
Funny this just posted I ran across several on Autotrader just a minute ago. Not a single car has sport seats. The more I see the more I'd pass on one.
Saw one at one of my local dealerships today. Matte Blue 63 black interior with the sport seats. Can't lie in the flesh it looks really good. $206k though!!!
I think they way overpriced the GT 63, just like they did with the SL. For these prices you are pushing 911 turbo (stripped down version) territory and that’s a tough sell. The GT 55 is more in line with where they should be.
I love the looks of them! Have a 911...I think this will really compete with the 911. I plan to trade in on a 55. Want to give it a try...I think it might be a really good daily! Excited to get one!

Just be prepared for the depreciation. My 911 have always held their value better than any AMG I have had/have. (Doesn’t stop me from buying them but you have to go into it with eyes wide open).

I think the main upgrade from the 911 is the V8 but then you have the downside of a way heavier car, not as fun in the twisties.
Please do test drive one before making a decision and if you want, share with us your impressions : )

oh I’m well aware. Just always wanted a GT and they finally have back seats…just love V8s! I’m guessing it will be a fun daily. But yeh, I’m guessing it will lose quite a bit but hopefully this will be a keeper for awhile

I'm going tomorrow to go pick up a 55. Anyone know how the delivery works? I have bought a new porsche before, but I knew what a 911 looked like and drove, so there was no concern there. I have never seen nor drove the gt55. I had showed interest in getting a 55 and the dealer sent me the spec of the 1st one from mbusa and it was almost exactly what I would have ordered. Am I allowed to test drive it before signing everything, or when I put the deposit down...that pretty much sealed the deal? I know they said I could get my deposit back if I backed out...but I'm just curious if it's out of the ordinary to request a test drive on a car you have already put a deposit on before fully committing. Thanks!

they should absolutely allow you to test drive it. They may not allow for an extended test drive so as not to put the miles on it, but since it is not a special order, limited car I would hope they would not have a problem with it. (I have done that in the past with my Mercedes dealer).

I have the same size back seats in my SL43 - no problem fitting my 6 year old and can squeeze in my 9 year old in a jam. I wouldn't say they are comfortable for them, but I would rather have them than not. I also like that in the GT the back seats fold down which also give you more cargo space. Right now the ones arriving at the dealers don't seem to have back seats (I understand they were delayed) but I'm waiting until some with back seats become available and/or I can spec out a new one. The cars look amazing - this one is at the the dealership near me, love the silver with full night package and black wheels.
update...went to go test drive the car. So I had been on the list to get an allocation when the dealer called me a week or so ago and said that he had one arriving Monday if I wanted it. He sent me the spec and I agreed to it within a few minutes! So, needless to say, I hadn't done a ton of research on it. When I arrived to test it out, I looked in the back and was shocked to see no back seats. It was totally an oversite on my part...I thought they came standard with a 2+2 but apparently it's an added option. I had discussed in length with the manager about why I was going with the GT now since it has back seats and I had held off on the prior gen since they didn't have backseats. So I guess I just didn't even think to look into it. Anyway, the guys were really nice and they are going to put an order in for me as soon as one is available. I did get to drive it and wow! I was gutted not to get it...it was exactly the spec I would get (minus the seats) and would be an amazing daily! The front splitter is pretty low so not sure if that would be an issue or not...I prob would order it with the front lift. But yeh...amazing car!
I have an AMG SL63 and the front axle lift system works very well. It will even remember locations for you that need it and will automatically lift there. If you so choose.
I have asked several dealers in the Northern TX region (Park Place, Plano, and Arlington); there are no allocations for AMG GT63 build slots for 2024. No build slots for AMG GT63 in 2025 yet. It seems MBUSA is not really entertaining the custom order process at this moment. It also seems like there are more AMG GT55 available then AMG GT63 (3:1 basis). However, if you want a GT55, Plano has 4 build slots available.... No luck with Park Place at all...
