Just added red seatbelts on this AMG GTS, for a customer who saw a post about them and liked it.
It's more than a color change, though, it's a replacement of the entire seatbelt assembly, retractors and all.
It's not an easy installation...it's quite tedious, so better let some professionals handle it, but man, the outcome is so worth it!
In my case, I got my iCARMIX team behind my most difficult installs so I worked with them shoulder to shoulder.
Totally changes the cabin! We replaced my belts with yellow to go with the exterior. Definitely not a fun job, but we aren't professionals and my husband and I got'er done. It was more involved than we were expecting but we do most our own DIY and also tackled them in my 991.1 GTS, so figured we'd give it a try.
I'd say worth it, but I wouldn't want to do it on another one 🤣
Was the AMG GT easier? I did my 991 GT3 a while back and it was quite the project.
Absolutely not.... GT was hands down much more difficult. There is a panel behind the seats that had like 1000 screws. Basically everything had to come out, except the seats just to get to them replaced. I spent a lot of time in the back hatch. But luckily I'm only 5'2" 🤣

Since this is a safety device (almost primordial, but still an important one), I would hesitate to change it out myself. Is the work such that there is only one way to do it and if there are any missteps they are immediately obvious?

If you're handy at all, it's doable. The most difficult part is removing all the panels. As long as you put everything back in its place the way it came out, you're good to go. The actual seatbelts themselves are all one unit that you just bolt back into place. So that part is pretty foolproof. I sent my oem's to Safety Restore and they send back the oem replacement as they just reweb it in the color you want.
