Nashville SCCA Track Night 10-9-24

Last track outing (about 12 mos ago) was plagued with understeer and brake fade. Focused on W2W SM for a bit, but wanted to get the GTR back on the track as the SM gets refreshed this winter. Thanks to others' experience here, made some changes:

1) camber shims to get -2.5 at all four corners
2) added Tikt front brake ducts
3) Swapped to Hoosier R7's - was going 295F/335R, but a SNAFU from where I ordered ended up with 315F/335R.

Long story short, this is how they should've sold the car.

Understeer cured, no tire rubbing.

Brakes held up perfectly - tikt works. Allowed me to carry more speed given the confidence in the brakes.

In this trim, the car is formidable. The vettes often seem to think it is a pricey show-er, but when they can't outrun it, they are believers.

May do NCM, NSS, and Barber before 2024 is done.

Thanks to everyone on this forum for the wisdom.

Now, of course.....to go faster

Are you running stock AMG wheels with 315s up front?

Brake fade was experienced with what brake setup - OEM Steels, OEM Carbon Ceramics, or . . . ?

OEM steel, no cooling @ AMP & NSS

The rear wing can certainly be adjusted to have a much higher angle of attack. I am also surprised that 315s did okay on an OEM 9.5 rim with the sidewall not being well supported.

I think OEM is 10", but still undersized per the Hoosier spec. Have a set of 8twelves (formerly Finspeed) on order that should make things right going forward. No doubt, however, max rubber up front makes turning in while hot more fun.

Did you stick with factory 19/20 stagger, or go to a 19/19 so can run slicks on all 4-corners on the 8Twelve order?

What width for the 19s? 11 up front and 13 in the rear? Also, what tires are you planning to run?

If not too late I’d suggest a 19x12.5” rear, the 19x11” front is perfect.

I feel the rear slick sizes are happier on the 12.5”:
Hoosier 345/30-19
Hankook 320/710-19
Michelin 31/71-19
Pirelli 300/720-19 (fine on a 12”), 315/705-19, 325/705-19

I found Nankang CRS V2s with stock sizes work very well on the track on my 2018 GTR. They are sticky enough and last a lot longer than hoosiers or PSCs.

I can’t wait to see/hear some actual results of the CRSv2 against the new Hoosier Track Attack Pro which will have our stock GTR sizes available come spring.
The CRSv2 is so sneaky good, it’s a nice track crowd secret !

I also was impressed with Sport Cup2R 285/35-19 and 335/30-20.
