Hi All,

Firstly thanks in advanced for reading this.

I have a 2016 AMG GTS with 36xxx KM on it. Engine mods are as follows:
Catless Downpipes
Capristo Exhaust
Turbosmart Bov's
Eventuri intake
High flowed OEM turbos
Snow performance water/meth kit
ECU tune
TCU tune

I have a strange issue that seems like a misfire, I have attached a short video (excuse the quality but it's mainly for the sound), you can hear it about 2 secs in until the end (about 6 secs long).

So far we have changed:
Vapor Canister Purge Solenoid
Fuel Tank System Purge Valve
Spark plugs (HKS)
All brand new coil packs
Multiple ECU and TCU tunes

However it still happens but only at the top end of 2/3rd gear and continues to misfire until it shuts a cylinder down causing limp mode. Turn the car off and back on, and its fine until you get on it again.

Has anyone had similar issues?
Those with bigger turbos/high flow turbos, What spark plugs are you using?

The car made 700.5hp/637.2nm at the rears on a wheel dyno. (Dyno Dynamics).

This issue has been annoying us for the past 8 months and my mechanic cannot seem to resolve it.

Any ideas or suggestions would be great!

Thanks again in advanced.

Are you data logging those runs when it happens? What does your fueling look like (lambda)? If you cranked up rail pressure then a bad or weak DI injector can cause misfires. You could also try 100% meth to see if the additional octane helps the situation.

I wouldn’t throw anything else at it until you data log. That will tell you quite a bit. In addition, what fuel are you running? At this power levels you may need high octane fuel plus meth.
Who did the ECU/TCU tune? That would be imprtsnt as you may need to seek other options

I think that’s the next step, trying 100% meth, at the moment I believe it’s 80/20.

it happens so quickly that it isn’t showing on the data logs.

The best we have here is 98 octane. Running a mix blend with ethanol is not really an option as it isn’t easily accessible where I live.

You still didn’t answer my question… what does fueling look like on the datalog? What is your lambda target and actual?

Without a data log you are flying blind. A good run through 3rd or 4th gear from 2k rpms and up.. 98 Ocatne is better than readily available pump gas but it is not ‘race gas’. Many folks running high boost with upgraded turbos are running 104 Octane or higher and meth mix to keep things cooler and for extra safety margin.

A good starting point could be to contact Andre Simon ( andre@hpacademy.com ) or Ben Silcock ( ben@hpacademy.com) from High Performance Academy.
Although they are in Queenstown New Zealand, my understanding is that they have many partners in Australia with deep understanding and experience an all aspects of turbo-based engines and race technologies.
I hope this will give you a better start.
Good luck.

Logs?
Is the tuner reputable and experienced with AMG (not other brands)
How big are the hybrids?
You don't have upgraded HPFP which is going to be limiting. Don't patch it with Meth.

Evolve Technik is the tuning company. They have done a large number of AMG's where I am.
I havent done pumps yet as I was told the pumps arent near maxing out yet and I dont want to use ethanol fueling.
I was considering going with a Spool FX200 HPFP but was advised I dont really need it.

I'm not the tuner so I dont have access to the logs for those asking.
