Cleaning Rims

When cleaning the Rims around the inside, it can get pretty tight around the brakes, does anyone know of any tool that is made to get in that tight area easier, than getting a wash mit and your hand in there?

You have fingers. Use them

Other then that though, you can take the wheels off yourself.

that is the $64,000 question... I would love to find a way to clean out ALL the brake dust from the back of the rim.. nothing looks worse that a 1/2 cleaned inside part of the rim. I would prefer to leave it all black!

What I am thinking of doing is when the dealer goes to rotate my tires, have them wash the rims (at extra cost if need be) so as to get them clean for a few weeks at least!

you can try a brush. I had a cheapy one from target that broke but worked pretty well on my chrome rims. meguiars has one they say won't scratch the clear coat and even has a rubber tip. beware the sharp edges of the spokes though!

oh yeah to get all the way around the inside, you'll have to roll your car about 3-5 inches foward or backwards to get around the brakes.

I got this at Target. It’s actually a mini duster but it's firm enough to get the brake dust off when washing the wheels. It does compress enough to clean between the E twin spokes but doesn’t quite squeeze between the front rotor and rim. It rinses out fine and stays fluffy enough to dust the inside after it dries out. The brush end is handy to clear out debris between the seat rails and door sill. Since it has a metal spline, I tied some of the yarn into knots around the exposed end.

Heh, it has nothing to do with anything else, but common sense. You buy a spoke brush and a good wheel cleaner, ever time you wash your car you do the inside of the wheels. You can also use a good sealent on the inside of the wheels to protect against future brake dust.

Once your wheels are clean when you follow up each time you wash your car, they will not get as bad.
