Cleaning Comand screen

Hello,
I swear I am not suffering from RTFM syndrome as I did look in the manual and did a forum search. What is the correct way to clean the Comand screen (05 e-500)? I have some fingerprints to remove. Water? Glass Cleaner?
Thanks

ah... the Comand screen! I am about as **** as you get when it comes to fingerprints, etc. I've tried every imaginable cleaner (high qulity), microfiber cloth, terry cloth, etc.. all leave some streaks.. I can't win. Even plain drinking water which should leave nothing behind leaves some streaks.

If anyone has a perfect solution to this, I too would appreciate it.

1) Try cleaner used for eye glasses or
2) Computer stores have spray cleaner for screens. Maybe that'll work better.

Hey there amdeutsch.. I tried both.. still left some streaking.. I used stuff called i-clear which is used to keep your Mac LCD (or any LCD for that matter) clean, and it was hard to get the edges of the screen to dry evenly.

I use NICE'N CLEAN anti-static cleaning wipes for electronic equipment and they are the best. I use them for all my electronic items such as my computer screen, plasma tv ect. Available at your local, yes... WAL-MART.

CRC VDU-99 is the best TFT / Plasma / LCD cleaner. It has a mild peroxide looking reaction and fizzles on the screen. When you wipe it the screen is clean as a whistle.

It leaves no visible residue on the surface such as the kind of deposits formed by alcohol use.

Benzmod.. thanks.. I just ordered some!

Superduper.. I was only joking.. but honestly I don't like them cause they put a lot of small mom and pops out of business... and yes, while they're not a cheap, it's not fair (IMHO) for those poor small businessmen. There are many other reasons I don't buy from Walmart (none pretentious), but I don't want to hi-jack this informative thread.. PM me if you want to hear more.

I have used Meguiars Plastx on the sat nav screen on my CLK and my wife's Honda MDX. Excellent results. Spotless and antistatic, so dust stays off for ages.

Just don't over do the amount you dab onto a microfibre cloth.

Thanks for the responses. I went to Office Max and bought some Fellowes Screen Cleaner wipes. They worked fine. They are a bit too wet, but the screen dried just fine.

I usually spray a minimal amount of Stoner's Glass Cleaner onto a MF towel and wipe down. Good result for me.

Glass cleaner can have ammonia in it and in some cases I have seen a white streak formed from its use.

I use Plexus. Used to use Stoner's, but I like the look of the Plexus treated screen.

Navigation or DVD Screen:
The screen is highly static and tends to attract dust like a magnet; so do not attempt to remove dust with a dry cloth. Use a 100% cotton towel and electronics `safe' anti-static cleaner (Kiwi Brands EndustTM for Electronics or Plexus) oil and wax free, also works well on both computer monitors and television screens.

Well, you need a good cleaner like Plexus to get the streaks and smudges off... and a good dust collecting swiffer duster to get all of the dust off it, and the rest of your car interior.. it's the least destructive, and most effective way to dust out the car... vs blowing it around, or whipping with a rag.
