I use the Meguiar's Soft Wheel Brush to scrub the inner part of the rims.

It seems to work fine without scratching the surface. Then I use a soft chamille wash mitt for the exterior part of the rim with car wash soap.

I have that same brush and was worried about it scratching...it does not scratch the wheel, but I am still a litte reluctant to use it on the face of the wheels, except on realy tough brake dust.

The wheelface brush is safe as long as you apply plenty of soap or wheel cleaner. I wouldnt scrub hard on bad brake dust.I just apply the wheel cleaner let it sit for a few minutes, then gently aggitate the brake dust loose.
The spoke brush is great for cleaning behind the wheel.

I use Meguiar's Detailer Wheel Brightner. Product D-140. You dilute it with water to the concentration you need. A gallon costs about $ 20, from automotive paint stores.

Can anyone tell me if there are certain parts of the wheel (for example the break pads) that should be avoided when cleaning or is it safe to clean it all? I didn't realize that the wheel portion that is open and gets all the break dust extends the whole width of the wheel, I thought only the outside rims were exposed, but I don't want to spray the wheel cleaner deep into the wheels if it's bad for the breaks or anything.
