3pc. Wheels

What is the best way to clean these? Are there any specific products out there for this?

Sounds like you got some nice new wheels, congrats!!! What kind of finish does the wheel have and is it coated? This will be a big determining factor towards which products are safe and effective. Once I know that I can help you with a recommendation for your new wheels.

Thanks Greg,

The wheels are brushed aluminum with clear coat and the lips are chrome. Anything you can suggest would be great.

There are lots of great products you could use to clean your wheels. To be on the safer side I'd recommend you use the P21S Metal Polishing Soap or the P21S Wheel Gel. The P21S Metal Polishing Soap is a great way to clean and shine your wheels. It comes with an applicator pad that you should get wet and wipe across the soap. You'll get a rich lather that does a great job of shining the metal and leaving it clean. The P21S Wheel Gel is a pH balanced wheel cleaner that is non-acidic. It's safe on any wheel finish and is gel based so it helps cling to the wheels vertical surfaces instead of just running off of them. It's a good wheel cleaner that you don't have to worry about using on nice aftermarket wheels.

You may also want to consider protecting your wheels with a sealant. I highly recommend the Poorboy's World Wheel Sealant, especially on the chrome lip. This sealant is designed to help resist high temperature brake dust and other road grime so they don't bond with the wheel. This makes future cleanings much easier and helps prevent damage from happening.

As a side note be careful what you clean the wheels with, especially on the chrome lip. A sponge/mitt/towel that is not very soft and clean will add fine scratches to the chrome lip over time. A clean microfiber towel or wash mitt is essential to a safe washing. The same concept applies to drying towels, get a nice soft and paint safe microfiber towel if you want to be on the safe side.

I hope this information helped you and you're able to take good care of your new wheels for years to come. Good luck and please let me know if you have any other questions.

I typically use what is softest and has the thickest pile. You want something soft that can break up contaminates but not grind them in to the surface. Sponges are often soft but very flat and don't absorb contaminates. Typically a sheepskin wash mitt is the safest tool to use. Let me know if I can further explain this or any other part of detailing.

Please be careful of what you use on the 3pc wheels. I have 3pc wheels and I took my car to the dealer to get it waxed/detailed, and they sprayed some kind of chemical on the wheels and it left white spots. I found out that they had used some kind of chemical that contained acid and it burned the clearcoat on the lip. I was told best thing to use is soap and water.

Automotive shampoo or a pH balanced wheel cleaner like the P21S Wheel Gel are 100% safe for wheels. Always spot treat wheels first before caring for all of them.
