Help, worst possible scenario!!!

Driving up I287 in NJ coming back from my A service, a scrap of something hit my A pillar very hard. Just from the sound I knew it was bad. I looked when I got home and sure enough it chipped the paint the primer AND the galvinization right down to shiny steel. F*ck I though.... Well its been raining pretty constantly for the past week now and I looked today and there's now a nice red spot on my A pillar (OXIDATION) RUST one of the the four letter word of MB owners.

So I need some advice on the best way to proceed. The spot is about 1/16" in diameter.

What's the best process to make sure that this is permanently fixed?

Thanks in advance...

Sand the rust off with fine grit. It's not deep so it'll come off easily. Prime and paint it.

Because it's a small area you can try a pencil eraser to remove the rust and touch up the paint when that's done.

I'd be more concerned that the metal is dented.

I would take this to a professional instead of trying to save a few bucks yourself. Rust has a nastly habit of coming back unexpectedly if not taken care of properly. THen it needs to be reprimed and painted.

Good luck.
