Will Dawn Wash Remove Perma Plate?

I just got a new E500 last Monday, and being uninformed at the time purchased the Perma Plate. I've since read through this forum, the Zaino site, and other places. I've decided that the Zaino system seems to be the way to go.

When I called Zaino, I was told that Perma Plate is just a wax, and a mediocre one at that. I didn't specifically ask, but I assumed that the Dawn wash would remove it. Is this an accurate assumption?

I do plan to attempt to clay the car before applying the Zaino. My understanding is that you gently glide the clay over the surface after spraying with Z7. Is this accurate?

Yes, that is how you use clay. You glide it over the surface, and maybe do another swipe if you felt resistance the first time. Dawn should be sufficient to remove the wax, but usually I use a cleaner beforehand. I don't really like to use dawn, but as a one time thing, go ahead.

BTW, there is a sticky thread in this forum that teaches you how to clay.

Use Z6 as the lubricant for the clay.

You certainly could use Z6, but you will use an entire bottle just to do so. Z7 is a little more slippery and you will only use a couple capfulls mixed in water. I either use car wash, or a cheap quick detailer like Eagle One Wet Wipe N Shine.
