Hey there, i am looking to give my Amg Monoblocks a good cleaning since i am going to be taking them off the car soon. I was just wondering what products are recommended. I want to clean/ polish/wax pretty much do whatever steps it takes to make them shine and look clean. Any recommended products to use or information is appreciated.

Thanks!

For your wheels I would use three products to wash, polish and protect them. I clean them with the P21S Metal Polishing Soap. Just dunk the supplied sponge in water and wipe it across the soap and you'll have a rich lather that breaks up brake dust and road grime while shining the wheel. If the wheel has really embedded brake dust, chemical stains or other stubborn build ups I would use the P21S Finish Restorer. This is the deepest cleaning metal polish I have used and is great on exhaust tips and other metal surfaces. Now to protect your wheels apply the Poorboy's World Wheel Sealant. This product will apply a micro thin barrier between your wheels and brake dust that comes off your brake pads at several hundred degrees. It helps prevent pitting and heavily built up brake dust. It also reduces the amount of time you spend cleaning your wheels in the future. Additionally both of those metal polishes are on sale this month for $7.99. Let me know if you have any questions about these products or how to best use them.

just received a jar of Poorboy's Wheel Sealant and applied to the front wheels. This product is difficult to work with due to a high moisture content. It tkes several minutes to dry. Another product is WheelWax that is more like a wax. I compared the two on the tips and noticed Wheelwax produces much better results. Cost of Wheelwax is $12 versus $25 for Poorboys. Just my .02.

After application of Wheelwax it somewhat reduced the level of brake dust on the wheels. Overall it has not made a (difference to ME) since a micron of dust is too much for me to bear.

We carry both the Wheel Wax $14.99 and Poorboy's World Wheel Sealant $17.99. I think both work well but they are slightly different. The Wheel Wax has light cleaning properties and slightly less protection in my opinion. The Wheel Sealant doesn't have cleaning properties but seems to protect longer. Both products are really easy to apply and remove in my opinion. The key is applying it really thin, using too much doesn't help at all. Both products provide a micro thin barrier that prevent road grime and more importantly brake dust from bonding with your wheel. Brake dust comes off the pads at several hundred degrees and often sizzles on the wheels repeatedly in the same spots, which can create pitting. The protection prevents this and primarily makes future cleaning much easier. Typically you can just rinse the wheels off with water if you clean them weekly. If you don't clean that often you can use just regular automotive shampoo instead of strong wheel cleaners. The only other big difference is that I can get more uses out of the Wheel Sealant. I can do about 60 - 100 coats on wheels, where as the Wheel Wax tends to be more like 50 - 75 applications. Therefore I find the Wheel Sealant to be a better overall value on a per use basis.

Both products work great so you really can't go wrong either way. You can also use the 10% off coupon code for MBWorld members which is "10offMBW" for additional savings. I hope this info helps you find the products that will help you the most.
