Best product/technique for removing road paint/tar
So, it finally warmed up enough for me to give my car a good hand washing, and once I got the winter's residual buildup of salt/sand off, I noticed a bunch of white paint sprinkled pretty much the length of the bottom of my driver's side. (I have no idea how it got there.)
I've never had to deal with some serious road paint/tar issues before (just a few splatters here and there). What's the best product and/or technique I can use to get this stuff off? To potentially complicate matters, it's white paint on my black finish. Which makes it look pretty bad as it is, but also worries me about smearing/scratching into my car's finish.
Appreciate any advice.

clay will work pretty good pretty good on the tar, as for the road paint. get some mineral spirits, and rub for a little bit, then move on to a new area, then go back... dont worry bout taking off the paint of the car, youd have to leave that on there a while, or constantly hit the same area
we used to use it all the time in the detail shop and never had a problem

Clay, mineral spirits and if you've recently washed her - you can wax and it'll usually do the trick (at least with the tar)

Clay bar is a great gentle option to start with. If that doesn't work try using a product like the Stoner Tarminator. This product helps dissolve tar and road grime. If this doesn't work you can try the mineral spirits and a soft cloth. Let me know if you'd like more info about these products or any part of the process.

Cheap. Cuts the grease. Cuts through the tar NO ABRASIVES!

Won't take the white paint off. But than the clay bar won't be as gritty when you attack that area.
