SpecC Detailed: Silver BMW E90 325i

The owner of this car had told me before that he had swirls all over his car and that his polished lip was in terrible condition with spots etched on and what not. Being that it is a silver car, it was hard to expose the swirls, but I knew they were there beforehand. I had seen them already under a different setting, and they didn't look too bad.

The one thing I did have a lot of trouble with this time was tracking the polish. 106FF is grey... put that on a silver car... it disappears! Usually, I'd say the polish is broken down when it goes about 90% transparent. I just had to do my routine passes with this car and hope that was enough. For the most part, I got all the swirls out that I could see under my halogen lights. However, under another setting, I could see that the swirls were very very light, but they were still there. Only the trunk and hood had swirls left though.

Materials

Car Wash & Clay
CG CWG
Micro-chenille mitt
Grit Guard
Waffle Weave Drying Towel
CG Clay Bar
CG CWG as clay lubricant

Engine Bay
CG Grime Reaper 5:1 Dilution
All Purpose MF towels - The DI ones are really really nice, so I'd suggest just picking up some Costco ones for the engine bay. These things get stained and dirty so fast

Paint Correction
Menzerna 106FF via LC White Pad
Menzerna SIP via Orange Pad - SIP was only used on the trunk and hood then refinished with 106FF
Hitachi Rotary Polisher

Wheels & Tires
CG CWG
Micro-chenille mitt
CG Metal Polish
CG Water Spot Remover

LSP
Jetseal 109

Just Jetseal for LSP this time. I wanted to wax it, but I was tired as hell! SES_D was also fine with how the car was in its condition. Well... more like he was  :confused0068:

Well, on with the show!

Swirls

As you can see, it's nearly impossibly to capture them. I saw them, but I couldn't see all of them either.

After LSP

One is clean... one is not... :barf:

Edit: Almost forgot this one!

Overall, a very happy owner, and I am fairly satisfied with this detail. I would've liked to put some wax on it and try to polish out a bit more of the swirls though.

Enjoy!
