Cleaning black exhaust buildup on tips..

This really bugs me since I got my car...I got most of it off but some seems to be caked on from the heat...any way to clean this off?

I think I've seen people get rid of it with a very very fine steel wool.

P21S polishing soap. works like a charm. best product around for this.

after cleaned apply a metal polish to shine and protect.

I would clean it with normal shampoo to remove loose contaminants. Next I would probably polish it with the P21S Finish Restorer and a microfiber towel. Apply a small drop and buff it on with light to medium pressure. It should deep clean and shine the tips up real nice. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Glad to help as always. Exhaust tips are always a tough place to clean and maintain. I highly recommend caring for them at least every three months to avoid excessively difficult cleanings. When you have stubborn stains, oxidation, etc. the P21S Finish Restorer and little elbow grease should fix the problem. I also use it on metal or clear coated wheels, trim, engine bay and even around the house. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Enjoy the weekend!

Any specific hints on how to apply the P21S polish? Do you guys go over the tips first with soap/water? Or just start with the polish directly.

Also, would it be okay to use a yellow foam applicator pad the apply the polish or does it have to be MF?

Thanks.

Before I use the polish I try to clean the surface while washing. I usually use a rag and the left over soap water. This helps get rid of the the loose contaminants. You could use a clay bar next but you certainly don't have to. As for the P21S Finish Restorer I apply a small drop (the size of what you put a toothbrush) on a microfiber towel or a soft cloth. You could try a foam applicator but it may deteriorate quickly during the process. Next smear it over a small area and buff it with light to medium pressure. When you are done buff off the excess residue with a clean cloth. For stubborn stains try a second application and use a little more force. If you have any other questions please let me know. Good luck!

Eagle One NevrDull wadding polish works great too! Just take a small piece of the wadding from the can and rub all over the exhaust tips. It cleans and polishes. Just another option for you.

Wadding polish can leave haze marks on Chrome Tips exterior; ok to use for inside only.
