Deep Scratches

I have some deep scratches that were caused by a dirty soccer ball skimming hard across my hood. I have tried Meguiars Cleaner Polish, which improved it slightly, but the scratches are still there. How do I remove the scratches without dulling the paint?

A surface scratch that will `catch' your fingernail is approximately 0.04 Mil (1.0 µ) deep will usually require wet sanding and refinishing.

If your MB's finish coating is CeramiClear (2004-on) a cleaner wax is unlikely to remove any surface scratches

Thanks for info. I would say from your info it would be classified as a surface scratch. It improved after hitting it with cleaning wax however it will still catch my fingernail very slightly and is obvious to spot in the right light.

Whats a good polish thats mild enough to get the job done without leaving any marks??

Do you have a flex or PC on hand for the job. I've removed some pretty ugly scratches with the white pad which is a very mild cut pad and the Menzerna SIP and/or Megs105, but make sure you follow it up with a good seal and wax to bring back your shine back. The oragne cut pad may be an option depending on the scratch, but I'd need to see a pic or two from different angles. I would not consider a wet sand for soccer ball scratches, especially on OEM paint. Keep in mind that after 2003 Mercedes starting using the ceramiclear coats and most polishes with not get to the root of the issues, but like I mention earlier..... the Menzerna SIP PO83 is especially designed for the Mercedes cars, but if you use the PO83 from Menzerna make sure you follow it with a finisishing or final polish like the Menzerna PO87 MC Micro Polish. Please post pic

Pic attached. It is very hard to get a decent picture on the black paint becauce the scraches are not too deep. I can feel slight bumps when I run a finger nail over it. I wont be doing any wet and dry. Its not that bad. Whats a good popular off the shelf product like Meguiras, Mothers etc. Some of the other products mentioned I would have to order as I am in Australia.

Ultimate compound is the most abrasive that meguiars makes, but i doubt itll do the trick, especially by hand. Menzerna SIP and a dual action are the way to go

Thanks guys. Wash, polish and wax tomorrow. After doing a bit of a search on the web I'm not sure I can acquire Menzerna that easily here. I had a look at the Meguiars web site and decided to give Scratch X a go.
I'll post the results FYI
Thanks

there should be an online vendor in Australia that would carry the products if not we would be able to take care of you if you would like.
