Thanks, couldn't have done it without your help, so really appreciated Mike.
Almost right with the waxes. From bottom to top its:
Rainforest Rub
Purple Haze Pro
Blue Velvet Pro
Supernatural
I think with the Pros you get slightly less wax (200ml vs 250ml) but they last longer.
People were raving about RR so I thought I'd check it out. Being a soft wax I figured it could be useful when you want to wax really quickly.

Hi all,
I'm a real newbie when it comes to things like cleaning and waxing so I thought a thread here might help me out. I'm really after what products I should be using on the outside of my car to keep it looking good. In case it makes any difference, the paintwork is Obsidian Black (metallic black).
Since I'm in the UK, there arent many shops that sell what you guys have available in the US - well at least not over the counter and not anywhere I've looked. The only product that is all over the shelves is Meguiars.
I'm looking to claybar the car as well. So I assume the steps I follow are:
a) Wash to remove any dirt.
b) Claybar
c) Polish/Wax the car
I assume I can use the following products in the following order:
1) Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner
2) Smooth Surface Clay Kit
3) Step 1 - Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner
4) Step 2 - Deep Crystal Polish
5) NXT Tech Wax 2.0 (not sure whether to get the liquid wax or paste)
All of the products I'm able to buy relatively easily. This will take a good few hours to do but I hope that I can do this and maintain it easily.
A quick aside: Is there anything I can use to stop the car getting dirty so quickly? I live on a busy road and my car get's visibly dirty after a few days. I thought the NXT Tech Wax might help with this...
Thanks and apologies for the long read.

But there is a such thing as over kill, with acrylic paint the less friction you apply to it the longer it will maintain its original shine.
All of those products have side effects that will cost you in the shine on your car.
Less is more.
It's a log easier to keep a shine on your car than is is to loose it.
An acrylic paint conditioner provides superior protection and shine for a fraction of the effort. and non of the accessories.

Based on the above I would say you are as serious as they come about keeping a shine on your car. So am I.

The original poster asked for information on caring for the paint on his car. I am just offering him an option that was not presented.
Everybody knows about common wax
I am surprised that you don't know about Pittman ALR. It's been around for years.
They make the only acrylic lens deoxidizer and the only acrylic paint conditioner world wide in todays market.
There are several videos and several sell sites.
It is a international product.
To Wax or not to Wax
Bonazle
Alibaba
VaporWax
Acrylic paint conditioner for new cars
Sell.com
maxda forum
ehow acrylic lens
good extra income ideas
I could go on but to answer the original poster:
Unless your mission is to restore your paint. This is all you need to preserve it.
You can save yourself a lot of time, aggravation and money.

You can't do that with wax.
It does not dull and you don't have to remove it.
Those things alone are qualities that you do not have in a wax.
I have experience with both.
What I can add from my own personal experience is that vaporwax delivers an unsually refective shine and is extremely low maintenance.
Those things alone make it a better choice for me to use on any of my cars.
If you don't have damaged paint you should try it.
It will save you a lot of time.
