Detailer's Domain: Porsche 911 CS - New Car Paint Correction

New Porsche 911 CS Correction.

I got a call from my customer telling me he just got a new 911 CS and asked me to take a look at it, I guess to my surprise I got a pretty swirled/hologram imperfect new 911! It always surprises me that dealers selling cars can do this, I feel its the dealers' job to present a perfectly prepped new car to a customer in fact they should do this for pre-owned cars as well.

Enough ranting, here is the write up.

I bought a brand new Lexus GS350 in 2008 which they prepped by running it through an automatic car wash. When I asked about wax the dealer told me that they don't wax light colored cars anymore because they don't need it.

I just traded that for a 2010 E350 with 5500 miles and I have oxidized chrome, dull faded rubber door gaskets, and holograms in the paint. I won't even talk about the interior. I've come to the conclusion that once they get your money the dealers just don't care.

I know what to do about most of this but what causes the holograms? I assume it involves the missapplication of a wax or sealant of some kind. Do I need to know what it was in order to fix it?

halograms are caused by incorrect use of the rotary or orbital polisher.

what causes hazing
what causes swirls
