Unhappy What happened to my paint?

Yesterday I noticed 2 very small spots on my trunk lid. Upon closer inspection, I noticed 2 almost microscopic pieces of rusted metal sitting on my trunklid and the paint, under where they were resting, was no longer red....but had a shiny chrome mirror finish. What happened? Is that permanent? The mirrored spots are small, about 1 millimeter in diameter and the peices of metal that made them were a small fraction of that size.

Hmmm, have you tried to clay it off? It may have been chips that have rusted. Try to clay it and let us know.

sounds like...

rail dust, or just plain ol' airborne industrial contaminant fallout. I used to get these ALLLLLL the time when I had a white Honda Accord. They are about the size of one of those little hairs you get in your razor when you shave your face. Very small, very thin. But they're all rust.

Of course, living across the street from an oil refinery didn't help matters much.

This sound like what you're describing Andrea? I didn't try clay barring because I didn't know about it then.

HTH,

EDJ
