![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Are there any do-it-yourself type of owner/driver out there when it comes to caring for the beautiful surfaces of a CLK? I'm not sure I would trust the typical urban carwash services. I don't like to pay for a full service wash and get mediocre quality. Biggest concern is swirl marks.
Just got back from the long Labor Day weekend and the Brilliant Silver CLK 500 exterior is filthy. In addtion to the dirt, grime, and insect splatters, there's a small paint chip on the hood by the ormament. Damn it! But what can I do. BTW, there were a number of cars, mostly Japanese, that challenged me to race them. Back to the CLK, like to have it washed and finished. Like to do it myself but not sure what it takes to be prepared for the job. Would anyone have recommendations on products and techniques on cleaning and finishing the painted surfaces? And what should I do to repair the paint chip on the hood? What's the prevention from getting more chips? My CLK 500 K3 K4 photo is attached. Thanks in advance.

Twice a year, I use NU FINISH polish for $6,49 from Autozone or Discount Auto. I give it two coats each time, two weeks apart for each coat.

I also use Lexol leather conditioner twice a year.
Every 2 - 3 weeks I get a brushless car wash compliments of the MB dealership -- for the life of the car.

I try to keep it simple. Have been using the above products - Nu Finish and Lexol - for 20+ years; my cars look like new.
