paint like sandpaper?
I was washing my parents ML and S yesterday afternoon and when I finished, I ran my hand over the S5's hood and it was not smooth at all anymore. It was like a sandpaper feeling, but not as harsh. When I ran my hand over it, it makes a "non-painted" surface sound...not even as smooth as paper.
The ML doesn't even have this problem or even my car. What could this be? It's not only the hood, it's the doors as well. Fenders, trunk and roof are ok. What can be done about this? I tried some Caurniba (spelling?) wax and it was a little better, smoother, but still had that feeling. Thanks!

it needs to be clayed, and badly. Do your parents park it near a train track daily? Or is it parked outside?
It's garaged everyday since we got it...I don't understand how it got to be this bad. My car use to sit outside everyday (the audi and ML have been sitting out there for 6 years now), all four seasons and all three are nothing like the S5....Any idea why this can happen?
Where can I get a clay bar?

Thanks for your help guys, much appreciated. Oh, what is the long term damage if I don't clay?
Also, if you want to wait and order online, you can buy the Zaino one from www.zainobros.com. I would only do this if I wanted to buy the Zaino polishes too, which imho are a really good product.
Don't go crazy with buying lubricant, soapy water will work just as good and keep some money in your pocket.

I would go with clay magic, blue bar. If it is really bad, i would even go with the red bar.

Good product, clay magic.
Soapy water works well but dries my skin and sometimes leaves water marks on the paint. No big deal because the wax (next step) takes them right off. I like to use the Griot's Speed Shine. It's not too expensive in the gallon size and it is a very good spray detailer.
