What is the proper way to bring back paints finish
I have a 1986 190E that is black. The problem is that part of the roof and sunroof have turned a dull black with a light gray tint sort of to it. I waxed once using a wax with no compound in it, Meguires(sp). It brought back some of the color but still looks a little dull in two areas. Is there anything special to get it back? Should I try wax with a little compound? Or just keep waxing with a little elbow grease to get it back? Help as I am at a loss without the extensive tools I used to have.....

first wash the paint thoroughly... then use Clay if you like meguiars they have clay availible on the website i prefer the body shop overspray clay.. very big bar and takes off just about everything that is embedded in the paint with enough time.. to use the clay after you wash the car then thoroughly wash you mitt and bucket and refill the bucket with car wash.. soak the clay in the wash for a while and then go over your finish with your wash mitt again dont rinse this time instead go over it with the clay this way the surface is lubricated and it will not stick to your finish as you are claying... after claying the entire car and is completely dried off use either a high speed buffer or a rotary porter cable buffer with compound diamond cut compound from meguiars is great.. then to bring the shine back to the finish you must polish ZAINO, MEGUIARS, S1000 KLASSE all great finally after everything then you wax to protect what you have done.. good luck
