Cleaning the LIPs on my rims

Hi. I want to clean my rims which are fully polished with clearcoat but i have trouble getting the LIP part to shine. What kind of wheel cleaner would make my lip shine? also, does the brake rotor get damaged if the wheel cleaner gets on it? thanks for your help.

If the lips ARE NOT clear coated, use a metal polish to shine them up.

According to HRE, they recommend a product called Blue Magic. Most auto supply stores like Pep Boys would have such products.

Blue Magic, that's what I'd go for too. It does work!

Adam,

I bought some of that Blue Magic today and tried cleaning the lips. I actually bought the liquid kind, and I can't figure out how to use it. I tried putting the magic on the cloth and wiping the lip with it, but i just ended up wiping the magic stuff back off. it says that i need to wait until a black film appears, but i have no clue on how to get the liquid on to the lip. also, after the black stuff appears, how do i wipe it away and with what?

thanks

The way I do it for my exhaust tips is..

1) Put a little bit of Blue Magic on the cloth

2) Rub the part of the cloth that has Blue Magic on it, onto the area you want to clean, make sure you have enough so that the area is kind of hazy-ish.

3) Then get a clean part and buff the haze-ish area off until it is clean.

4) Now get another cloth area that is clean and buff the thing until it shines

Note: I didn't find any black film either, but after doing this about twice, the area was extremely smooth and shiny. Lemme see if I can find a picture for the first time I did it and after one buff.
