Glass--hard water spots....

What have you guys been using to remove these? I've got anold fashioned method to do it, but it's really slow, and even a bit scary. These appear to be sulfur spots that have hardened...Suggestions, links? Thanks....

~One man’s opinion / observations ~

Removing water spots / light surface scratches:
·Use detailing clay to remove any ‘hard’ granules
·Use water/distilled white vinegar or a 5:1 Isopropyl Alcohol solution (adjust ratio as required) or try equal parts distilled white vinegar, Isopropyl Alcohol and distilled water to dissolve the alkaline-based mineral water deposits.
·Use a clean spray bottle and a 100% cotton Microfiber cloth to apply the solution to the glass surfaces
·Wipe off any residue from glass and dry with a damp waffle weave towel
· f any ‘water spots’ remain apply Distilled White Vinegar un-diluted to a 100% cotton micro fibre towel, using a medium/heavy pressure on glass surface.
·If this does not remove the ‘water spots’ use Autoglym Car Glass Polish™, and #0000 steel wool, use straight line motions only circular motions cause swirl marks
·Or apply a quarter size amount of Autoglym Car Glass Polish™ (See note 1) to a damp foam pad attached to a Porter-Cable random orbital buffer using speed # 4.
·Apply to half of the windshield, polishing first in an up and down motion then in a left-to-right motion and then repeat on the other side
·Wipe off any residue from glass and dry with a damp waffle weave towel
·Inspect glass for clarity and smoothness. Repeat if necessary.

Note 1. For deeply etched ‘water spots’ or pits (caused by sand or road stones) in the glass surface, do not attempt to polish them out, consult an automotive glass vendor as glass used on later model cars is soft and thin (this may vary by manufacturer) due to weight / cost savings by vehicle manufactures and polishing could cause glass to crack.

~Hope this helps~

I found some glass cleaner called Glass Scrub. Apply to water flushed glass with a damp cloth or sponge. It removes deposits if they are not exceptionally heavy. My glass is in good shape so I haven't had to get down rite nasty on the application, but its about 4-5.00 a bottle.......try it. www.unelko.com

Believe it or not, you can use a powered shake on cleaner called "Bon Ami" on window glasss. It comes in a can with holes on top and it looks like Ajax scouring powder when it comes out of the can.
Their slogan, printed on the can, is "...hasn't scratched yet..."

Then rinse/flush well & clean & dry with a regular spray on glass cleaner

***IT IS NOT AJAX, NEVER USE SCOURING POWDER ON GLASS ***
