Technically, what is the difference between polish and wax? I am using the Zaino products which they identify as polish. They don't have anything called a wax. I emailed Ira at LAZAINO and he says Zaino protects better than wax but doesn't explain the difference. I am very happy with the results so I guess it doesn't matter what its called.

Zanio is a synthetic polymer wax, a compromise between a polymer sealant and a natural wax. The polymers do not require a lengthy cross-link (cure) time as ZFX is formulated to accelerate the time requirements. Z-2 produces the most gloss of the two synthetic waxes (although they’re labelled as polishes) it is more optically clear then Z-5 and will highlight any surface imperfections, whereas Z-5 will ‘hide’ very minor surface imperfections with fillers.
Polish (to provide a high gloss)-Usually formulated with ultra-fine abrasives, with varying grades of abrasion, they break down as they are used, gradually reducing in size and burnishing the surface to produce a highly reflective gloss, and renewing the original oils found in the paints resin.
Carnauba Wax- (provides a sacrificial but renewable protection)-A natural wax repellent, it forms a barrier that is a natural protection from the suns UV radiation, acid rain, airborne pollutants and acidic bird droppings, it also provides Colour, Depth and Clarity that is without equal.
~Hope this helps~

Thanks TOGWT. Does Zaino offer UV protection? I think the important question is 10 to 15 years from now, which paint will be in better condition.... the one treated with Zaino or the one treated with a high grade carnauba wax?
If I intend to keep the car for a very long time then the long term effects (both from the elements as well as from the product) are a concern. I am more concerned with the long term results. I am willing to sacrifice some beauty and shine for a healthier paint .

Yes, Zaino contains UV protection.
For example in the Z-2 polish, Z-2 contains Ultra-Gard™ UV(40), our most advanced sunscreen. So, in addition to being 99.9% optically perfect, Z-2™ Show Car Polish offers the ultimate protection against fading and shrinking.
