How much wax per panel?
Hi All,
I have just waxed my car for the second time. The first time I used pure carnauba wax. Looked good, but gave me a backache!!
This second time I decided to go for something easier to put on and take off, Meguiar's NXT. I am waiting for it to dry now.
My question, for more experienced waxers is, how much wax do I use? If I squirt a blob of NXT (or something similar like Zaino) the size of a quarter on my foam applicator pad, how large of an area should I apply to before squirting another blob?
Or put another way, how much do you guys squirt onto your applicator pad to cover, say, your hood?

It varies depending on the brand, aplication method and paint condition. You want to use the minimal amount possible as the paint is only going to take to so much wax. Typically an 1/8 of a pad for me covers a panel, maybe an extra dab to finsih larger areas. You do not want extra wax on the panel that does not dry, so just start light and then add more if needed. ~One mans opinion / observations~
The secret to the application of a polymer product is to apply it thin (super thin) fill a spray bottle and mist a foam pad then apply. 1-1.5 oz should be sufficient for most vehicles) taking care not to apply to absorbent surfaces (i.e., unpainted plastics and rubber trim)
