Average cause for bushing replacement?
I was quoted $2809 for upper and lower control arm replacement on my ML400 2015. Is this in the range of a normal price.

Sounds kinda spendy. My shop charges 120.00 an hour plus parts. Some shops go by a set standard for hours towards a job. For example a shop was going to charge 170.00(1 hour) plus the price of a fuel filter....yeeeouch! I bought fuel filter for 50.00 and did it myself in 30 minutes on my 00' SL500. Shop around if you can, look up their history with previous customers.

UCA bushing is probably done with new UCAs which means 2 new bushings, upper ball joint and control arm, per side. So the parts are more than strictly needed, but good practice anyway.
If you can DIY, this is not a hard job. I would not worry about aligning the suspension unless needed after your test drive. Do the parts replacement yourself. Then have an indy shop align it only if needed.
