Engine mounts

Just wondered, being relatively new to the marque, how much vibration is to be expected at idle speeds on a W210 E300 DT? The steering wheel has a slight vibration, but at 165k miles I was wondering if from new, the car had zero vibration? I'm thinking of changing the engine mounts.

Change them and you will be amazed at the difference. The mounts have a jell inside that goes away with age and the engine then transmits the vibration directly to the cabin. It is a fairly inexpensive fix.

Thanks. The vibration is very small, you can't really see the steering wheel moving visually, just when you hold it it moves slightly.

Just wondered how much they vibrated with perfect mounts?

How much are we talking about? I have a 2002 C230K and I feel the slight vibration as well.

TIA

It will get progressivly worse to the point where you can see your dash vibrate. With new mounts you will not feel anything. With the high
compression of the diesel, it can get pretty bad.

My E300 is shaking vigorously-especially on reverse for some reason It definitely needs new motor mounts. I will have them changed once I get back from Atlanta this weekend. (My car has 185k now-over 55k in the past year)

Well mine isn't anywhere near that bad, so I think I'll leave it for now
