New diesel models???
How about a comparison of how it drives compared to the OM648 (I-6) CDI?
Sound level, exhaust tone, etc..?
I could use the 320 CDI engine in that, not in the GL, but MB said that it could be used in every model in their brands, so maybe it will happen.
A G320 CDI with some 16" wheels and no running boards would be perfect.
I read somewhere, or heard from one of my people maybe, that the newly pardoned G will get a diesel powerplant option in the lineup in 2007, I think it was. Not sure if it's going to be the 320CDI...but I don't see off the top of my head why it wouldn't be....
What'll make that thing fly, is the 7G-Tronic and it's closely spaced gears.
And, do we really trust aluminum high compression diesel engines? I'll give my respect to it for now.

It runs really, really really good.
We had it for a trip to the cabin up north and it avaraged about 6.0l/100km (I think some where around 40mpg) and it only has like 8000 miles on it.
Mostly highway, but the break-in period is just about ended and the consumption should go down even further.
A friend of mine has the BMW 530d and he only gets 9.0l/100km (25mpg) and he has about 80000 miles on it.
I think that the reliability in the new V6 should be at least as good as the I6, but probably much higher. When it comes to durability I think that the I6 could be better since it has the cast iron block, but I think that the engineers had that one figured out as well.
The cab's in Sweden are mostly MB or Volvo, but the MB's are amazing, they have easily 800 000 miles on them.. Actually been in an old cab that at the time being had 2 000 000 miles on it, the meter had gone around once and they replaced the tranny after 1 200 000 miles. Pretty amazing!

Thanks for sharing that info Henke... and welcome to the forum, lets hear from you more!

My cousin in stockholm says Diesel is more expensive right now than gas? is this something new? All the cabs i've been in sweden and europe are all diesels. But of course a merceds in germany is like a ford focus. They sell them with cloth, standard and no ac.
Although i was in rotterdamn in a chevrolet caprice with a giant american flag in the back. The guy found out I was an american and kept showing me easy rider magazines asking if this was america
