1991 350SDL daytime running lights

My 1991 350 SDL has problem with the daytime running lights. The lights go on and off by them shelves. I suspect the module. Does any one know where it is located? Where can I get a new one. My local MB dealer was not much help.

Let em flicker

Don't worry about it. Lights are the least of your worries in a 350 SDL.

Eventually, you'll bend connecting rods and start burning oil, just before the motor implodes.

Nice guy.

Admittedly, I own a 350SD. And the engine has failed. TWICE. Once, at 80K miles, when I did not own the car, and just now at 280K miles with at least three holes in the #1 piston.

I experienced low oil pressure, and the cylinder is completely worn away. (I have pictures of the shortblock exposed).

The problem was so subdued that I thought it was the "placebo effect". Until one day, it decided to "break", dumping a qt of oil at 100 miles or less.

As to the original poster's question. There ARE no daytime running lamps. Nothing is wired into the car to even simulate that effect.
I suppose you could activate your parking lamps in the fog, or drizzle.

--------------------------------------

REMEMBER THESE CARS SHOULD USE NO OIL WHATSOEVER IN 2.5K MILES ON REGULAR HIGH QUALITY PROPERLY RATED MINERAL OIL. ANY AMOUNT EXCEEDING THAT, IN A 350SD/SDL SHOULD BE CAUSE FOR MAJOR CONCERN!!! ------------------------------

NO MATTER HOW WELL YOU MAY THINK IT RUNS!!! This comes from experience.

Thanks for the info. I am well aware of the problems with these motors but I think I have done a decent job of taking care of the carbon deposits and so far (245,000km-154,000 miles), the car runs great. It does not burn any oil at all right now. After owning a 240D, a 300D and a 300SD, this is the best Mercedes that I have had so far.

Canadian cars must have daytime running lights. Mine worked great up til a month ago and the only problem is that if I forget to turn the lights on manually, the daytime running lights go on and off and the peolpe around me think I am flashing the lights at them.
