GL320 Bluetec Announcement
Last week, MBUSA responded to my inquiry about the arrival date of the GL320CDI saying it was anticipated in the first quarter of 2007 as a 2008 model. Then we read the announcement from Paris that the Bluetec is to be released on the GL, M, and R for MY2008.
I'm starting to wonder if they won't commit to a release date on the GL320 CDI b/c it might not even make it to market in the US-maybe, rather, we'll end up having to wait on the arrival of the GL320 Bluetec late in the first quarter 07 as an 08.
Why would there be an 08 GL320CDI, only to be replaced in the same MY with a GL320 Bluetec?
Any thoughts?
The Bluetec announcement says that the Bluetec R,ML,GL will be available in US in Calendar Year (CY) 2008. In practise this means Model Year (MY) 2009.
The regular US R,ML,GL CDI models may be out during calendar year 2007 (1st quarter?), those would be MY 2007 or 2008 .
So there is at least one year between the availability of CDI versions (non Calif. emissions states only) and Bluetec versions (all 50 states).

He better be right I just sold and delivered my GL450 which the diesel is replacing!
He also stated they have already been shipped a couple R's with the diesel.
