Kleeman KD-6 for E320 CDI

As a present owner of a '06 E320 CDI, I am interested in the Kleeman KD-6 upgrade. Being from Western Canada, it appears that I may have difficulties installing the system because all the authorized dealers seem to be in the East.

Any answers to the following questions would be appreciated:

(1) Cost in Canadian dollars?
(2) Easily owner installed or it is a shop job?
(3) Is the installation complicated and does it compromise the factory wiring?
(4) Do you kiss the MB factory warranty goodbye?
(5) Is there a big difference in feel , i.e. acceleration, etc.?
(6) Other than the Eastern dealers, do you know of any in Western Canada
(Vancouver)?

I have been to the Kleeman website and other than specifications regarding HP and torque there is not much information.

Additional comments would be appreciated.

Mr. Alan,

I went to the web site and it looks like there are a few dealers in Canada. Unfortunately none in BC. I might suggest that you give them a call, they might be able to ship it to you... Everything that I have read indicates that it is plug and play for the CDI.

Here is their Americas dealer web site listings:

Here are their dealers in Canada:

I would certainly appreciate if you could report back here what you find. Especially about the answers to these questions:

(1) Cost in Canadian dollars?
(2) Easily owner installed or it is a shop job?
(3) Is the installation complicated and does it compromise the factory wiring?
(4) Do you kiss the MB factory warranty goodbye?

I was able to find some information from the web site of the dealer in Quebec. They have a price list for Kleemann products, which includes a listing for the KD Box.

It is listed at $825.00. But it does not say if it is US or Canadian, but it did come from the website of a Canadian dealer. I hope it is in Canadian.

I don't have the REAL answer to your question, but on the I6 CDI it is very, very easily installed. I really can't imagine it being any harder on the V6 version.

The best bet is to call Kleemann USA & ask for Cory. He will give you the straight scoop.

I have it on my V6 CDI and although mine was installed by Kleemann HQ themselves, the installation was quite easy (you get good instructions along with the KD box too). As for warranty issues, I always remove the KD box whenever I hand in the car to MB (very easily done). Just dont want to listen to their lame excuses if something goes wrong with the car. Good luck with search

Kleeman KD-6 for E320 CDI

Thanks, everyone for your interest and help, especially Danno4X4 for all your research. I haven't thought about the mod that much lately, as my E320 CDI is preforming like a champ. I did consult with the service manager at the local MB dealer who told me as far as he is concerned my warranty would be toast if any engine problems occur. I know some MB dealers in the U.S. will supply and install the chip with no warranty issues! So, it looks as if I will have to remove the KD-6 before taking it to the dealer for service if I eventually go ahead with the purchase.

Mr. AR.Shah, I wonder if you would mind giving your input about the performance and mileage. I have also heard you can expect more exhaust smoke with the KD-6 installed. Your comments and experiences would be appreciated.

I have had no problems with my car other than a transmission leak where the ECU wires enter the transmission body. A new rubber seal was installed (apparently a recall) under warranty and it has been fine ever since.

Although I dumped the oil after about 600 miles of driving, I still have not been notified about my first official oil and filter change by the message centre. A lot of the accumulated mileage has been clocked by highway driving which is likely one reason the message has not flashed.
