ULSD question

I bought a used E320CDI (05) and originally it was run on what ever the pump had prior to ULSD. Now all the pumps in my area have ULSD (forget the MB site, it is way out of date).

Is there anything I should do to the car maintenance wise or can I continue as is with just regular maintenance. It has 55K and will be going in for a 60K sometime this fall I imagine.

The NA E320 CDi was sold in Europe a few years before ULSD was available here so it was designed to take the European fuel (which had been the ultra low stuff for a while). As long as they do not have 3 or more rubbishy catalytic converters to trigger check engine lights in the Bluetecs you are fine. You can:

Use LSD (500 ppm) as well as ULSD (50 ppm).
Use 5W40 synthetic engine oil (if you use anything other than MB specified low ash synthetics in the Bluetecs and newer diesel engines you are screwed)

In good old Ontario the only emission testing required for passenger diesel cars is visual. Visual means if your friendly tester is not looking deligently you pass. Every time.

These are freedom diesels. Keep your E320 CDi.

Um, gross....and also untrue. The whole reason the switch to low-sulpher diesel was mandated were studies like the following showing that particulate matter from diesel fumes lodges in the lungs, as shown in studies like the following:
