Diesel transplant into an Sl?????
Hello to everyone.
I have some experience in recycling chip oil and running mercedes diesel engines on this oil.
Now i would like to install a diesel engine into a Sl and would like to hear if any of you knowledgeable people have any experience of this or suggestions as to which of the later, quieter engines may fit?
Many thanks to you all for your community.

This will be very difficult for several reasons. Although from what I have heard the diesels are simply too tall to fit in an SL, and the later the engine, the more electronics involved. Not to mention gasoline cars need smog checks....and with a diesel engine that will be interesting.
Which SL and which engines were you thinking of.

If we're talking about a R107 and a OM617, it CAN be done, with lots of modifications and money.

I'll have to post some pics later. The exterior is fine, but it really needs an interior refurbish. Despite MB's legendary parts availability and support for older models, the dealer can't even get interior parts for that color code anymore, if it was palamino or black, they could get floormats or other colored trim pieces, but green? Nope!
