1985 300D - California Emissions Version
I have a 1985 300D with the trap oxidizer. Is there a bypass made for these?

There have been several people working on a "bypass" for this car. I know of nobody who actually made one to sell. I bought a junk 300SD (fed version) and swapped all the parts into my car.

They supposedly did up until a certain point in time. I know of a few people who had the turbo fail because of the trap and had everything replaced for free. I know of a few other who had the turbo fail because of the trap and the dealer told them to go pound sand. You can take the car to a dealer and ask but I don't think you will get anywhere.

Only on the 86-87 models. The 85 models get the TrapOx replaced with an OxCat.
Here is what you need from any 82-85 federal model:
Intake manifold
Exhaust manifold
Oil supply tube
Oil drain tube
Exhaust down pipe and brackets
Then cut the stock california air filter hose about 4" short in the straight section, get a metal or pvc tube to connect the two sections, install all the replacement parts and reclock the turbo's turbine and compressor housings to mate with the new manifolds.
