E300D TPS Problem

Hi,
I am still having problems with my 96 E300D Throttle position sensor. I checked on the drivers side where the gas pedal cable connects to and all parts seem to be moving fine, and the car responds to the gas pedal. Another thing I was looking into was on the passenger side on the EGR valve. I can see that there is some electrical device( a sensor I am guessing) on top of it. There is a valve right after the intake that is mixing the exhaust with the intake air. When i rev up the engine that valve does not move anywhere. Vacuum is supposed to operate this valve. I am thinking the vacuum is fine. I disconnected the electrical connection on the EGR valve and the car still only gives the one code P0120( throttle position sensor circuit malfunction). I think that it is that electrical device on the EGR valve. Does anyone know if this could be true, since it is an expensive part.
