Adjust idle on 95 E300?

Hey guys, I noticed my diesel is idling a hair low, there's a little bit of vibration in the cabin and when I depress the gas pedal slightly and raise the idle a hair it's real smooth - so how do I adjut idle on this car?

Thanks - OJ

You still have a fair amount of metal linkage, check that it is lubed and moving freely. Ought to be a spring or two also. Motor mounts mayalso be worn; they are 17mm (top rubber rim to top of mount) when new and are considered bad when 13mm. You can measure with a 13mm bolt head.

After reading low idle posts in the W124 forum I see that OVP relays are sometimes linked to low idle and ABS lights being on (which I have). Also, could be unrelated, but earlier this week my wife drove my car and left the lights on draining the battery. She got a jump and all was good accept within a day I had this low idle, ABS light and my RPM guage stopped working - could this all be related?

Electrically, just about anything is possible with the 95's engine harness.....

The tach gets its input from the CPS. Wheel sensors are sensitive to low voltage. I'd load test teh battery before doing too much.

Haa, well I replaced the harness 4 years ago but I will check that battery - thanks.

Oh, quick note - when I bought the car at 118K miles the tach and the AC did not work. No indy or AC repair guy could get the ac compressor to come on so I had to take it to the stealership. They replaced the crank shaft position sensor and both tach and AC started to work - I wonder if that animal could be bad again?

Could be bad, but I would check the wiring to the CPS first and make certain the connection is good.

Well my low idle, low engine power, ABS light and ac compressor were out or on because of one of the 10 amp fuses in the OVP relay. I thought I had checked it but actually I thought that one fuse sitting there in front of the battery was the OVP until my mechanic showed me the real OVP location behind the battery by the ECU's - anyway just wanted to say thanks for the help - OJ.
