My fuel gauge is not reading correctly. Fill the tank, OK - When fuel level reaches 1/2 tank, the readings drop very quickly. There is fuel in the tank but the gauge is not working. Dealer wants $1,000 to drop the tank and fix. Any ideas???????????

I know nothing about the fuel tank on this car but I would try to find access to the sender on the fuel tank , remove & check for faults.

In older cars there was a coil /slider & float .
