Blutec solution question?

I guess I'm sort of confused on the technical aspect of this solution. I know it goes in right under the trunk liner where there is a reservoir. Where is this solution injected into? Also, is there any place to buy the solution online? Not into paying stealership prices to put fluid in a reservoir!

Thanks for the help!

Buy from Audi/VW dealer in 2.5 gallon containers for ~$15, or at truck stops as "diesel exhaust fluid" for ~$12. Just make sure it meets whatever ISO requirements (I think it's ISO 22241). And you'll need a CLEAN long-neck funnel.

Solution is injected into the exhaust stream in one of the catalysts...not sure exactly where, but I'm sure a 2-minute google search could answer that one.

The process is called Selective Catalytic Reduction.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BlueTec

I should think shipment of a heavy liquid ineffiecient in small quantities, i.e. best to buy from a "dealer" that gets large shipments. The VW/Audi or "truckstop" solution is widely recommended.

Search for companies selling it in concentrated form and use your own water.

A VW dealer near me carries "Adblue" (DEF) for about $13 for 2.5 gallons. One thing you might want to investigate is does your DEF tank require periodic "flushing" as does the tank in my BMW diesel? I think the idea behind that is that DEF can go "bad" over a period of time and flushing prevents that from being a problem if there's any residual in the tank when you refill.
