'82 300sd Turbo-Diesel, '02 VW Jetta+Golf TDI, '03 VW GTI 20th Ann Ed.
Newbie here.
Hey folks, I just picked up a 1982 Mercedes Benz 300sd Turbo Diesel.
I have 2 other diesels, a 2002 VW Golf TDI (125k) and a 2002 VW Jetta Wagon TDI (135k), but i'm selling them for some cash. Both are worth nearly $15grand, which will more than loosen up some dough to restore this new project.
I bought it off a friend for $400. I am by trade a Wholesale car broker, and know what to look for when buying a vehicle and I must say, DAMN. I had no idea this thing had all original body, engine and original miles (189k). It needs a paint job and a lot of re-upholstery, but for $400, you can't go wrong.
The engine is spotless, you can eat off of it how clean it is. The thing runs GREAT. About a year ago it had about $1600 in repairs done to the suspension, ball joints, CV's and axles and what not (practically the entire front end suspension, top to bottom, control arms, EVERYTHING)... So thats taken care of.
Sorry for the long prologue, here's what I'm going to take care of this coming week:
Oil change, new glow plugs, new fuel filter, tranny fluid change, brake pads, tires, and replace a couple bulbs on the interior... The dash also doesn't illuminate so if anyone knows where to start with that, lemme know!
