RPM guage inoperative ('95 E300D)

I recently replaced the alternator. When I went to restart the car, it started up fine, but the RPM gauge shows no activity. The A/C compressor is also failing to engage (the clutch), but that's par for the course (the A/C has been **** since the car was new). The fuses look ok and most of the electrical issues that persisted before changing the alternator are no longer occurring (ex. radio and lighting cutting out). Any ideas?

Vehicle: '95 E300D.

I pulled the OVP relay and one of the fuses was blown. I replaced the fuse, started the car up, and it was good as new.

Thanks for posting the update of what happened. Not a common thing to happen, nor are there many forum members that have this car, so it is useful information to have on here. Thanks,
