P2033 Code 2007 Bluetec E-320

The 2007 E-320 I just bought threw a P2033 engine code. It is EGT Sensor #2 Bank 1 high Voltage. Any ideas from the masses on the issue here? Are these sensors easy to replace, costly, etc.? I also just received the NAV disc from the dealer (He attempted to keep it...) and apparently the NAV system doesn't work either. It says no NAV disc even with the disc inserted. The disc is version 2006.1, the car is a 2007. Seems reasonable to me, thoughts? I saw a picture of a map up on the screen, so I think it worked before I bought it. It was an online purchase from a dealer in FL, I am in Ca. Thanks, Rob

i know that the temp sensors on the bluetecs are very common to fail. most of them are not to bad to replace but they can be expensive for what they are.

Sensor failed

Did you have a ppi done on the car?You might have some recourse if you did.
Sounds like someone erased the code and sold the car.
You get it drive it and the issue causing the code pops the cel.
Now you need smog and it won't pass.
Where in Ca?
Not familiar with the bt but if like most it is the sensor aft of the particulate canister
try autohausaz or peachparts

I don't know what a PPI is. On another link, a poster suggested I check and see if it is covered under warranty - and according to my warranty guide it is covered for 8 years or 80,000 miles. Now I just have to convince the dealership to replace it. I'll let everyone know how it goes. I am in the Sacramento area.

Cat converters

and some other emission related parts are covered
so if the egt is one of them the dealer won't argue they charge it back to mercedes.

PPI is pre purchase inspection
if one had been performed they would have discovered the code even if someone cleared the check engine light.

Reading more threads, it seems the P2033 can be caused by a clogged particulate filter. I looked to see if that was still under warranty as well and discovered that I mis-read the warranty listing. In my little handout, most the emissions items are only covered for 2 years and 24 months, only the "*" items get the 8 yr 80,000 mile warranty... I am confused as to how MB warrants emissions items for a shorter period of time than the basic warranty. There is a section that says if the car fails an emission test and repair is required, then the part is covered for 8 yr 80,000 miles... unless it is in Ca, Maine, Mass, or Vermont where it is 7 yr 70,000... Very confusing and frustrating.

One of the ways to clog a particulate filter is to use motor oil other than one meeting Mercedes specification MB229.51.

My GL has an underhood sticker cautioning against adding ANY QUANTITY of noncomplying oil. That obviously means a quart between changes, etc.
